Today we traveled from Donegal to the Glenveagh National Park. Located in the park is the Glenveagh Castle, built between 1857-1859. The third and last owner sold it to the Irish nation to have it become part of the park. The castle is set on the shore of the lake in a valley. Some of our group hiked around the grounds and visited the top viewpoint, which overlooks the lake, castle, and mountains surrounding the valley. It was a very steep hike - it took about 20 minutes - but the view was worth it. We came back to Donegal after a few hours of exploring. Some of us were not done exploring though, and we journeyed off to find the Fairy Trail not too far from our hotel. There were little fairy doors and houses lining the path alongside the river. It was a cute trail that ended at a small beach. It was an incredible day for exploring natural Ireland, even though it started out pretty rainy. Tomorrow we head to Belfast!
