May 19th: Trinity College

Today we went to Trinity College to do a science experiment with some primary school students. They were all roughly 10-12 years old.

The students were apart of a program that encourages them to attend university. By doing this with them, we were able to show them that college can be fun and worth the work.

We did an experiment where we got to show them their own DNA. We had to explain to them what DNA is and how to separate it from the rest of the structures of the cell. The kids had a lot of fun with us, and had a blast with spitting the water into the test tube.

After our session with the students, we went to get pizza as a group. Dr. Bezotte and Dr. Peacock treated us to the pizza and it was very good!

After lunch, a group of us went to the National Museum of Ireland: Archaeology & History. It had pieces from the history of Ireland and other places. There were mummies from Egypt, and jewelry from all over the world, among many other pieces. Some thing that was super cool was the bog people. People who had passed away and were left in the bogs were preserved so well that some even had hair still!

After the museum, we walked around and did some last minute shopping.
